Multimodality
December 11, 2009Multimodality seamlessly combines graphics, text and audio output with speech, text, and touch input to deliver a dramatically enhanced end user experience. When compared to a single-mode in which the user can only use either voice/ audio or visual modes. Multimodal applications give people multiple options for inputting and receiving information. This makes the application much easier to use and provides more information an accessible way. As teachers we often use multimodal approaches even though we do not recognise it. Using web resources is one of these ways. The internet requires students to comprehend text, video, images and sound in an ongoing way and to extract the correct information to draw appropriate conclusions. The use of multi modal texts is important in creating interest and relevance for our students.
